Texas: Cameron Park Zoo

ZooNext time you visit Texas, whether for business or pleasure, be sure to take a day and visit the Cameron Park Zoo. Located in Waco, Texas, this zoo is an award winning, natural habitat zoo. This park features progressive display areas, free form surroundings, and other state of the art designs that allow visitors to view wild animals in the best possible way.

A new exhibit featured in the park is the Brazos River Country exhibit. Visitors can experience the life of early Spanish explorers who searched the Brazos River for the seven cities of gold. In each exhibit, a habitat with animal and plant life is represented, which can originally be found on the 840 mile long river.

Exotic species that can be found at the zoo include African Lions and Elephants, the Aruba Island Rattlesnake, White Handed Gibbons, White Rhinoceros, Blue Eyed Back and Ringtail Lemurs, Reticulated Giraffes, and Kori Bustard.

This zoo is also very active in conservation efforts, and is apart of The Species Survival Plan, or SSP. This program helps insure the survival of specific wildlife species, that would otherwise be endangered.
