Using Your Laptop Abroad

Planning a holiday? Even as we anticipate getting away from it all and going somewhere new, it’s often hard for us to fully disconnect from life at home. After all, most of us are so plugged into our social networks that we don’t just want to share vacation stories after the holiday is over – we want to share them as they happen. So you might be wondering, how can you get online and email or Facebook or Twitter while you’re away?
There are several different ways to reconnect while you’re away on holiday, but mobile broadband is no doubt the easiest. Having a phone or PDA with mobile broadband access makes it easy to connect from anywhere and everywhere. Having a wifi capable laptop or notebook is also a good way to stay connected on vacation.
If you don’t have a device with mobile broadband or a laptop with wifi, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve been cut off from the “real world.” For example, most chain hotels offer Internet service in all of their rooms, and guests without computers can use the hotel’s business center to go online. If you’re staying somewhere without modern ammenities, then a quick drive into town should help you to locate a business that offers paid wifi services, though once again the best way to get online even when you’re off the grid is to come prepared with a mobile broadband equipped device.
